EU funding for Polish urban rail projects

THE European Union (EU) has approved €293m in cohesion funding to support investment in public transport projects in the country's largest cities.

In Warsaw, the EU will provide €91.7m towards a €141m order for 85 low-floor trams, together with €41m towards a €51.3m order two locomotives, 20 double-deck intermediate coaches, and two driving trailers for suburban services.

In Lodz, the EU will contribute €85.8m towards the €110.8m Lodz Fabryczna Multimodal Hub project, which will integrate tram and mainline rail services with the road network.

The EU will also provide €41.7m towards a €52.2m scheme to upgrade the light rail network on the western side of Szczecin, which includes modernisation of Pogodno depot to accommodate low-floor LRVs.

De EU heeft ingestemd met een subsidie van €293 miljoen in diverse Poolse stedelijke spoorprojecten. In Warschau wordt bijna €92 miljoen gesubsidieerd voor 85 lagevloerstrams en €41 miljoen voor de bestelling van twee locomotieven, 41 rijtuigen en twee stuurrijtuigen.
